Deborah Cates lives in Fort Worth. As the parent of a child with a disability, the primary reason Cates applied for the program was her concern for individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) who have complex behavioral needs or are medically fragile. “I want to become a skilled advocate so I can ensure a full continuum of residential and vocational options are available for all people with DD in Texas,” Cates said.

Michael’s Voice, Michael’s Choice

Project Description

Create a video that illustrates the importance of individuals with developmental disabilities having a range of options – or choices – when deciding how and where to get services. In the video, the partner’s son, Michael, will share his story about why he chooses to live at the Denton State Supported Living Center.
