Angelita Hunter, of Van Alstyne, is the parent of a child with a disability. “I want to acquire the skills necessary to educate and partner with key decision-makers so together we can create positive change through legislation, community-based services, and advanced disability rights,” said Hunter.

Intercept-Related Interventions for Inclusion and Systemic Change

Project Description

Assist with the establishment of intercept-related interventions for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who become involved in the criminal justice system. Work to bring an end to practices, policies, or laws that are deemed to be ineffective. Help communities employ alternative solutions and strategies to prevent entry into the criminal justice system and utilize collaborative methods to divert individuals away from criminal activities.
