Texas Partners and Policymaking & COVID-19

Texas Partners in Policymaking Logo 2-22

While we adjust to the changing environment with COVID-19, the Texas Partners in Policymaking program will continue – and adapt when necessary – so we can train the next generation of disability advocates in Texas. Below is information about how the program is responding to COVID-19 and how you can stay informed.

Programming for the Class of 2020

Programming for the 2020 class is continuing as planned. To adjust to the COVID-19 situation, Session 6 was held online instead of in-person, as participants from across the state gathered via videoconference to continue their advocacy training. Similar measures may be taken for the two remaining sessions for the 2020 class. The primary idea here is that training for the 2020 class will continue, regardless of what else is happening in the world.

How to apply

Now more than ever, disability advocates could play a critical role in ensuring people with disabilities are included in their communities and have a seat at the table when important policy decisions are made. Classes will also continue as planned and sessions may be held in-person or online via video conference. Click here to learn more about the application process.

Information and Resources

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) developed a webpage with information and resources related to COVID-19 and how people with DD could be impacted. The webpage also includes plain language resources and information for students with disabilities. This webpage will be updated as new information and resources become available. Partners is a project of TCDD.
