Michelle Vasquez

Michelle Vasquez is a mother, communications coordinator, and Ph.D. student pursuing a concentration in adult education, social innovation, and entrepreneurship in San Antonio, Texas. She also facilitates professional development training courses on website management and digital storytelling. Her research interests include disabilities, health equity, inclusion, social justice, and advocacy. She is currently leading an action research study using digital storytelling as an arts-based research method focused on learning how parents of children with disabilities gain access to federal programs, social services, and support. Vasquez is a board leader at the National Society of Leadership and Success and a Compassion Student Organization member. She received the Professional Practice Award at the Dreeben School of Education’s 2021 Honors Convocation. This year, she was voted on to the Texas Parent to Parent Board of Directors.

Project Description
Storytelling for Advocacy aims to help Texas Partners in Policymaking participants amplify their advocacy efforts through effective storytelling. The project included four writing workshops and four video creation workshops for cohort members.
