Headshot of Angela O'Brien

Angela O’Brien

Dallas

Angela O’Brien is from Dallas, Texas. Her disability advocacy journey began when she was in school and had the opportunity to work with other students in a structured learning environment. She has always been dedicated to helping family members with their medical conditions. Learning from a young age how to advocate for family with doctors and hospitals, Angela’s passion deepened when she became a mother to a smart and quirky daughter with autism and ADHD. Her goal is to advocate not only for her own child but also for other children. Angela is also deeply interested in the public education system and enjoys volunteering in her local school district.

Project Title

Dream For Their Future

Project Description

Angela wants all general education teachers to receive mandatory training on autism and attention deficit disorder. Currently, there is no mandatory training for general education teachers in most school districts in Texas. O’Brien wants every teacher to know they are a special education teacher and to have the proper tools for their classroom to help themselves and their students succeed.
