Project Title
Second Chances for Guardians
Project Description
This project advocates for the rights of individuals with addiction and criminal records from over 10 years ago to serve as guardians for people with disabilities. It challenges the traditional barriers that prevent these individuals from becoming legal guardians, despite their past convictions, and argues for a more rehabilitative and fair approach to guardianship decisions. By highlighting the importance of a guardian’s ability to provide care, stability, and support, the project calls for policies that consider rehabilitation and personal growth over time. Ultimately, it aims to ensure that past mistakes do not prevent capable, caring individuals from fulfilling critical roles in the lives of those who need it most.
