Annette M. Sankowski

Annette M. Sankowski is a licensed nurse turned small business owner. She has previously been involved with the Idea Public School Advocacy Team, where she helped advocate for special education within public charter schools. She is also an administrator for a parent and caregiver support group called Walking the Spectrum Together RGV. The group provides support and social opportunities for families in the lower Rio Grande Valley area. Sankowski joined Texas Partners in Policymakings to learn about opportunities that exist in other communities for people with disabilities. She hopes to help bring these opportunities to her own community in the Rio Grande Valley.

EMPOWER- A Disability Community RGV Podcast

Project Description

The goal of this project is to create a podcast that will serve as a hub of information, resources, and support for the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) disability community. The long-term goal is to spread awareness of state and nationwide programs, resources, and networks that could have a positive impact on the RGV disability community. Sankowski has partnered with a previous graduate of Texas Partners in Policymaking to cohost the podcast.
