Congratulations to the Texas Partners in Policymak Congratulations to the Texas Partners in Policymaking class of 2022! We are incredibly proud to present our latest cohort of disability advocates.

For the past eight months, the class participants have gained knowledge from nationally recognized speakers, honed their leadership skills, and learned strategies to impact policy. Each participant also completed a capstone graduation project. Thanks to their diligent work, Texas communities are more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities.

Congratulations to the 2022 class of Texas Partner Congratulations to the 2022 class of Texas Partners in Policymaking!

This weekend, the class of 2022 will graduate from Texas Partners in Policymaking. Over the past eight months, this exceptional group completed our advanced disability advocacy and leadership program. Participants learned more about the history of disability advocacy, developed their leadership skills, and each completed a capstone project to create real and necessary change in their communities.

As a result of their hard work, more people with developmental disabilities are fully included in their communities and exercise control over their own lives. These graduates join an impressive network of over 750 alumni who have graduated from the program.

Travis Rand, class of 2022, applied for Texas Part Travis Rand, class of 2022, applied for Texas Partners in Policymaking to learn more about how to advocate and impact legislation by collaborating with elected officials.

He says, "I hope to acquire the skills to become a more effective advocate for myself and other people with disabilities."

Angel Arellano, class of 2022, feels like joining Angel Arellano, class of 2022, feels like joining the program was a step in the right direction for him. He felt "imposter syndrome" when the program started but now enjoys having a community of fellow advocates that he can always go to for support.

He says, "I joined because I know that I'll be advocating for my daughter for the rest of my life. I feel that this program is providing me with the education and tools to go out into the real world and advocate effectively for the disability community."
